| 2010 Viva Victoria Festival |
|
Viva Victoria Festival is one of the biggest multicultural event in the state with more than 40,000 visitors last year. Highlights included two stages of outstanding music from around the world, a vibrant marketplace of quality handmade products, an exceptional selection of authentic traditional foods, children’s activities and exhibitions. More than 60 ethnic backgrounds were invited to participate in this event.
As the lotus blossoms grows out of the mire (muddy gound), it symbolises that we should never distant ourselves from the sufferings and ignore the world in the name of practice.
Just as the lotus blossoms grow in the heat of the summer, we need to turn the bothersome troubles and defilement of our lives into opportunities to further our practice and cultivation.
To show our support of the Viva Victoria festival and in celebration of Cultural Diversity week, our YAD members have volunteered to create a specially designed Lotus Pond at Federation Square. Whereby visitors can write a special message/wish on a specially designed lotus blossom. The wish is then attached to a special weighted wire base and placed in the centre of St Paul's Court.
